Ran it just about 15 seconds slower than last year – 53:36.
Thanks to Mom and Dad for their hospitality – staying overnight in Boulder the night before sure beats having to get up well before the crack of dawn to fight the traffic from Denver, and the lunch on the patio afterwards was excellent!
I’ve now run the Bolder Boulder somewhere around 19-20 times, give or take a race or two. I have saved the certificates of completion, and currently have 18 of them, with the 19th from 2007 on the way in the next month or so. My slowest race was the first I ran – in 1983 at the age of 14, I ran it in 58 minutes and 8 seconds. My fastest race was the second race I ran a few years later – in 1986 at the age of 17, when I ran it in 43 minutes 40 seconds.
So, you could say I know the race pretty well at this point in my life, and I know myself as a runner. Before the race, I was trying to predict to Carrie roughly what time I would be done. I looked at my starting time, thought about the time I thought I would run it in this year, and told Carrie I would be in the stadium around 8:06 AM. I looked at the video feed tonight from the final stretch of the race, and sure enough, I went by at 8:05:42. 🙂
