If you remember last year’s BolderBoulder, Tobey and I nearly cracked an hour together and we thought that milestone might be reached this year.
With an official time of 57:34, we easily bested the 60 minute mark with an average pace of 9:15 per mile. With this year’s slightly faster pace, I did hear Tobey hear Tobey talk about being tired a few times during the race, but it didn’t really show in our overall race as we finished the 6th mile as our fastest overall mile. It was a perfect day for running with early morning temperatures in the low 60’s.
This year Carrie and Truffle came to Boulder with us the night before the race and we had a nice evening catching up with the Grammy and Gramps who had very recently returned from Italy. Both of them decided to participate at the last minute and had great 10K’s themselves – Mom came in 9th in her age group and Pops, who has recently lost 30+ lbs (woo hoo!) came across the finish line in less than his 90 minute goal. We also had my Dad’s cousin Rami and his daughter Callan stay with us in Boulder to participate in the race. Callan at just 13 was the fastest of our household easily, coming in around 45 minutes in her first Bolder Boulder. Way to go!
I told Tobey I’m good for another 10-12 minutes faster, but once he reaches that mark, hopefully he’s old enough to run the race himself, and greet his old man at the finish. 🙂
Already looking forward to next year!
